PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Daily Meow | American Bobtail paints are long and sturdy. Their back legs are slightly longer than their hind legs, a feature they share with the Bobcats. It wears a rainproof and weatherproof double coat. The American Bobtail has a wild appearance, with the eyes of an "almond" hunter. And the most defining feature of the cat is its short tail, which is between one-third and half the average cat's tail. Although a cat's tail is usually straight, it may be a curve, having a bump or a little knot.

PERSONALITY AND TEMPERAMENT

Although not new in America - first here in the 1960s - the American Pledge breed has recently become popular. And although the true history of the story is that the offspring came from a marriage between a short brown tabby man named Yodie and a Siamese seal dog.

Yodie got into the possession of John and Brenda Sanders from Iowa while they were enjoying a vacation near an Indian reservation in Arizona. Although Yodie's ancestry is unknown, she has a short tail. Birman, the Himalayas, and a Himalaya / Siamese cross were then added to the lineage.

In the 1970s, the first standard for this cat was written by Mindy Schultz, Bobtail breeder and Sanders friend. But due to lack of resources, this type makes little progress. Unfortunately, most of these early lineages have now faded. Then, in the 1980s, some breeders decided to make a slightly more flexible BIG. They broke away from the original blueprint, which is essentially a short long-tailed tail with white gloves and a blaze of white fire, and started a new breeding program.

This new Bobtail, which emerged as a result of the efforts of these breeders, comes in all colors, categories, and divisions. The seeds can be traced to a Florida breeder, who crosses a domestic cat with a Bobcats. Doubts remain on the authenticity of this story, however, as many experts say that such marriages will produce sterile kittens. Another, more likely, the story is that this short-tailed cat is the product of a natural mutation among domestic cats.

The breed has excelled in the category but is still in the development stage.
